The standards be it an ISO 9001 or IATF16949 call for a company to develop a quality manual that, among other elements, shall contain “a description of the interaction between the processes of the quality management system.” Through our involvement is developing client's QMS as well as an auditor to dozens of companies, we realized that very few businesses had developed practical process approaches to address this requirement. Often time we find the documents for process interactions are from busy and/or a hard to read flow charts. This eventually lead to an unnecassary confusion to the internal auditors.
